If you are using a laptop computer this feature may help if you do not want usb powered devices to draw off the computer s battery while the devices are not actively being used. Set both the on battery and plugged in settings to disabled then click ok to apply changes. Expand the universal serial bus controllers branch then double click the usb root hub device and choose the power management tab. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all of the usb root hubs on the computer.
